John “Dennis” Wearmouth, beloved husband of Maida Wearmouth, of Cochrane, AB, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 92 years.
Born in Calgary, AB, on April 14, 1933, Dennis had a love for the outdoors from a young age and spent any free time hunting in the mountains and prairies. He was a proud member of the Stockmen’s Memorial Association and also enjoyed rodeo, hockey, and football.
Dennis was a dedicated member of the farming community and volunteered with various organizations throughout his life. He was named Cowboy of the Year in 2023 and had a passion for following his grandson’s rodeo careers. One of his most memorable vacations was a hunting trip to the Northwest Territories.
He will be deeply missed by his loving spouse, Maida Wearmouth, his son, Tom Wearmouth (Jana), daughters, Gail Wearmouth and Wanda Larsen (Kevin); his nine grandchildren, Cassie, Dylan, Tyrell, Orin, Kane, Dawson, Deja, Dione, and Allison; and his five great-grandchildren, Will, Ava, Charlie, Waylon, and Bonnie.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Annie; his four brothers, and his two sisters.
A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation.
Dennis will always be remembered for his passion for farming and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
